This week we have been celebrating Diwali. Diwali or Deepavali is the Hindu festival of lights celebrated every year in autumn. This celebration includes millions of lights shining on housetops, outside doors and windows, around temples and other buildings in the communities and countries where it is observed. The children across all of Early Years explored the festival through lots of exciting activities. It was lovely to see our Reception children show the Jellyfish children how to work as a team, to complete lots of the fun and exciting challenges together.

The children explored messy play with Mendi (paint) on our hands, clay Diya lights and made Diwali cards and pictures. They have also learnt to dance to Indian music and looked at the dress that is worn during the celebration. We baked some Indian sweet treats which we tasted and described together. We also made Rangoli patterns exploring both the patterns and shapes within the designs.

Please click here to look at all of our photos and videos during these activities. We have all learnt so much and explored with excitement Diwali- the celebration of light! We are so proud of all of the children and their ‘Creativity and Curiosity’ during this event.
